Season 12 of “American Idol” is premiering January 16, 2013 and viewers are excited to see what’s in store.

Leaked footage of the October incident between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj has brought speculation. In a recent ABC News interview with Barbara Walters, Carey  shared her feelings on the entire incident. The producer of the leaked video has not yet been identified.

“I told them, I’m not f—ing putting up with her f—ing highness over there,” Minaj said in the video. “I’m not going to take it back, and if you’ve got a f***ing problem, handle it.”

“It felt like an unsafe work environment,” Carey said during the interview. Earlier reports alleged Minaj threatened Carey with a gun. ” I did hire more security. I felt it was the appropriate thing to do.”

Carey has admitted to not expecting there to be the another female judge there on the panel.

Further along, Walters then asked her if lyrics in the Nicki Minaj song, “Hell Yea,” were aimed at her. “I’ll take it, sign on the dotted line/ But I’m quick to check a bitch if she’s outta line … Why these bums so mad that the queen on Idol?” the self-proclaimed Queen Minaj raps on the song.

“Are you the ‘bitch’ she’s singing about?” asked Walters.

“Don’t know,” Carey replied. She appeared uninterested and bored when asked about Minaj, who also has scored hits. “Don’t know what she sang. Didn’t know she sang, I thought she rapped, or whatever.”
