Anthony was still upset after getting into a confrontation with Garnett in the fourth quarter. The confrontation resulted in a double technical.
New York City police officers and building security were called to the incident.
According to an ESPN article, Anthony exited using the visiting team’s tunnel instead of the Knicks’ tunnel. Anthony approached the Celtics’ locker room yelling. It was never stated if he was directing his anger toward Garnett.
MSG security and the police intervened when Anthony approached Garnett near the Celtics’ team bus, according to a source.
“Listen, heat of the battle, man, guys throw back and forth,” said Garnett. “He’s trying to get his team to go; I’m trying to get my team to go. Both teams are colliding. Not to mention that it’s the Knicks and the Celtics. Just what it is.”
Anthony is the Knicks’ star player and was not available for comment.
Doc Rivers, Celtics coach, weighed in with his opinion on the matter saying, “the game got heated.”
“I’m going to let y’all figure that one out,” said Rivers. “I’m going to stay out of that.”
The incident between Garnett and Anthony could result in a suspension and/or fine.
